Audubon Halloween Event Raises Funds for Community Foundation
With the participation of many other Chautauqua County-based non-profits, Oct. 30 was a night of trick-or-treating at Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC).
Trick-or-treaters followed along a self-guided, outdoor trail and stopped for a candy-light, activity-heavy treats at tables along their way.
Stations included take-home items such as fruit snacks from Lincoln, Audubon’s Box Turtle, a glow stick from a Lightning Bug, gavel-shaped pencils from Robert H. Jackson Center, locally made bird-themed chocolates from Roger Tory Peterson Institute, as well as other treats provided by some of your favorite Chautauqua County non-profit organizations.
The entire $600 raised by the event was donated to Chautauqua Region Community Foundation’s Future Fund in honor of all of the participating organizations: ACNC volunteers, Chautauqua Dairy Promotion Board, Chautauqua Hospice and Palliative Care, Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua County Humane Society, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County Nutrition Program, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County Master Gardener Program, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Chautauqua County Youth Development, Fenton History Center, Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Inc., JCC International Program, No Wrong Door/NY Connects, Prendergast Library, Robert H. Jackson Center, Roger Tory Peterson Institute, The Relief Zone Inc., and YWCA Jamestown.
The Future Fund provides for the future needs of the community in times of crisis or disaster. It was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and is one of the many ways that local foundations came together to provide a safety net for non-profits facing financial instability.
